The sustained increase in popularity for e-publications such as e-books and e-magazines clearly demonstrates that this trend is not just a passing phenomenon. Recent research shows that in the first quarter of 2010 the demand for e-books have more than tripled compared to the previous year. With the introduction of many new reader technologies such as the Apple iBooks on iPad and new e-ink readers are sure to continue fueling this increase.

The publishing sector has its own inherent requirements to meet this increasing demand for e-publications.
